Concrete Paths & Steps
Side paths, garden paths, entries and outdoor steps — formed straight, drained properly and finished for grip.
In short
Sunshine Coast Concrete Services pours concrete paths, side paths, footpaths and outdoor steps across the Sunshine Coast, QLD. Paths are formed to a consistent width with a fall for drainage, reinforced and finished for grip; steps are formed with even risers and treads. Finishes range from plain broom to coloured, exposed aggregate and stencil. On-site quotes are free.

Getting paths and steps right
Width and fall
Around a metre suits most garden and side paths; go wider where bins, wheelbarrows or two people need to pass. Every path needs a fall across or along it so water runs off rather than sitting on the surface.
Steps that feel right underfoot
Every riser on a flight should be the same height and every tread the same depth — uneven steps are what people trip on. Where steps form part of a building’s required access, the National Construction Code sets limits on riser and going dimensions.
Grip
Broom and exposed aggregate finishes grip best outdoors. Smooth or stencilled paths rely on the sealer, so ask for a non-slip additive on paths that get wet. See sealing & re-sealing.
Paths beside the house
A path against the house should fall away from the wall, sit below the weep holes, and leave your termite management system’s inspection zone visible. We check these on site before the formwork goes in.
Thickness and reinforcement
Foot-traffic paths are typically 75–100 mm thick with light mesh on a compacted base; anything a vehicle will cross needs driveway spec. See the thickness guide.
